4 hours, six crashes later…

April 24, 2001 @ 12:04 am

Okay, I really have lost all patience with this thing, so I am going to really, REALLY abbreviate the past few days while OD has been down. Do I can recall it later (because I like treating this exactly like I would on paper) here is my list of things:

  • Parents coming
  • Brother drinking
  • Too much food
  • Everyone knows everyone
  • Avalon
  • WP Reunion

Yeah, I think that just about covers it. is munchin on some spree while typin Okay, down to business. First is my parents. They were here this weekend. Well, my mom anywho. My aunt and my brother came as well. They just wanted to spends some time down here, which is cool. My brother stayed in the dorms with me while they stayed out in Marina at a Motel 6. My aunt wanted to spoil me rotten. Thanks to Semm-san, she did. We met Semm, Erin, and her friend Nicole while we were in Target, and Semm helped me pick out all sorts of good food. Hey, I wasn't paying for it... and why else would I actually be eating good food (Spree) and drining Pepsi right now? I have a half hour before dinner, so time to move quickly. …

Something about 420

April 20, 2001 @ 04:04 pm

No, I don't smoke pot, I just had nothing else to call this entry. I have decided to start marking times I write over the course of the day in my diary, this way if I have to pause, I remember for how long and stuff. I have to fly down to building 14 ASAP to turn in a cover sheet for Anime Club...nobody did it and they were supposed to. The rest of my day is clean my dorm (family tomorrow), do my Spanish Club Agenda and e-mails, and then create / do the proposal for Anime Club so that I can have it to ICC by tonight. What fun, eh? It is raining outside, so really all I did was come back here to get a fuzzy thing with a hood, so I will continue this later.

Okay, well, that was unproductive...seems Student Voice closed their offices early in honor of the "holliday". Uhg, all that leaves is some other stuff for Anime Club, some Spanish Club stuff, and I may actually have to do some homework. :( I am checking my Yahoo voicemail now, and putzing around places I shouldn't be. Oh woe is hacker me. Note to self: do not hack public servers. Now why would I say that? Quite simply because too many servers out there are highly insecure and they contain information I would just rather not read. Personal stuff too...company mail, personal mail, restricted web sites. Granted on some of them, I know the back doors to the server types, there are some that just...gah. I found someone's mailbox I knew and honestly running a script through root on the server was not smart, only b/c I didn't really think it was her e-mail box. I came across an e-mail that was about oh, I dunno it's Apr. so 16 months ago. It was a survey from Sara, Stalking 101:Lesson 3. All of us in WP got them from her, and I was mentioned in it. It was about 10-12 days after we decided to try the long distance thing. Once again, note to self, stay out of e-mail boxes. Next thing I know, I am playing with a few backdoor routing scripts on MSN's subdomains. A 2mb email box is hard to find... except when you already have an idea of about how full it is. In it? E-mails from Olly, Sara's buff, blond, Tae-Kwon-Do hunk of a man whom she is most likely fucking. I left the e-mail box, didn't even read the e-mails. Not my business, but I did e-mail the administrator of Hotmail from a hotmail account to tell him about the minor exploit. Should be fixed by now, and yeah, seems to be since I can't view the root anymore. What it looks like is they moved the contents of the server onto another computer, and didn't set the new computer up properly. Guess it's just as good I found it than someone who was looking for sensitive data. I am personally proud of myself, as information curriosity did not get the best of me. Usually I woudla looked, this time I just didn't care. …

Human Quality

April 18, 2001 @ 11:04 pm

What do you think is the most important human quality? Is there somebody you know who displays that quality in their life?

For me, the most important thing any human being can possess is compassion for another human being. It is a trait that sadly, at least in today's society, seems to be lacking. At present, the human race has little regard for themselves. We destroy the world we live in, kill the animals we live off of, remove the creatures that are the reason for our continued existance. …

Fanime!

April 02, 2001 @ 11:04 pm

Okay, well it has indeed been a while. My last entry referred to Disneyland, and since then, a week has gone by, and I have gone to something known as Fanime. For those that are not into Japanese Animation (Anime), Fanime is the second largest Anime confrence in the 9 western United States. The largest is Anime Expo. During the week, nothing super exciting happened, so instead I am going to focus on Fanime itself. Just as a fair warning, I do have a large bias that clouds these entries and skews them towards a less pleasant side. To clear things up, all my good times seemed to happen when I was NOT with the Anime Club. Now, onto the story.

The time is 9am on Friday morning, and everybody is arriving in front of the 206 common room with their gear. It is hectic, mostly because it is 16 people and our club (or mroe specifically the Fanime coordinator) was very unorganized. The result was us not leaving until ... oh about 10am, almost an hour past when we wanted to leave. Not only did we miss the Tea Ceremony, but it was too late to huddle up wor being a volunteer. And volunteering, from what I had heard, was fun. You got free food, a place to sleep, a hang out rooom, and all you had to do was contribute 14 hours of time to the convention. What a sweet deal. And since it is a three day convention and sleeping is unheard of it is not difficult to get 14 hours in a 72 hour period. My 72 hours was cut to 48 because we got there so late. Okay, not tht big of a deal. Now, onto the events after getting my badge. Just on that note, I had a picture of Epyon on my badge. …
