Violated

"Blarg" is the word of today. Not because today was long, slow, uneventful, and overly boring, but because that is the catch-all word for my mood. Yes, "Blarg" indeed. The day as a whole consisted of waking up, calling out sick for Target (24 hours in a weekend is too much work, especially as of late), eating lunch, and doing a whole lot of nothing. How much nothing? A whole helluva lot. After that it was time for dinner. Went, did that, then came back to the Dorm. There was that wonderful smell... so I walked in. The room smelled of pot. The room smelled of alcohol. My bed was NOT the way I left it earlier that day. I calmly shut the door, and went upstairs to CB's room. After a few knocks, Celeste let me in, so we talked for a bit. Her bro was over for the weekend, which is cool n' all. But the room. MY room. MY bed...
This really isn't how it should be. I mean, hasn't this week handed me enough shit? KK, Sarah, CB, the WHOLE Wed. thing, the rape, and now my own space, my BED where I sleep.... GAH! What about the ROOMATE RULE?! Not when I am in the room, NOT in my bed! I am not even going to touch that with a 10 foot pole. Basically, I am headin out for the night. Gonna try Tam's room or CB or Erica's room because I can't stay here. I will wash my sheets tomorrow morning. Once more, gah. And a really big whimper too.…
Rape
September 08, 2001 @ 11:09 am
This morning at 5:30am, a student called the University Police to report that she had been raped. The victim told the officer that an unknown male entered her room in Res. Hall 204 earlier in the morning and raped her. She is in stable condition and will be examined at Community Hospital.
There was no forced entry to her room. The case in under investigation and police need your help. If you saw or heard anything around 204 this morning that seemed suspicious or simply out of the ordinary, please call Sgt. Young 582-3061 right away. Your help is needed.
We will keep you informed as information warrants.

The above message greeted each and every student who opened their emails yesterday morning. I knew who the person was, knew her personally. I still can't write, I refuse to think about it. My status is away, I am avoiding everyone. It shouldn't have happened to her, an RA of all people. She must have thought it was a resident locked out. She opened the door to him, let him into the room. "There was no forced entry" the police say. Mandatory floor meetings. Do not let a person in without a studnet ID card. Sexual Predator. Talking with CB and Erica about it, the worry they show. Now in groups. I feel so helpless. So much panic, so many people not knowing what to do - I don't know what to do either. I am just as helpless as everyone else. If only we had played Truth or Dare longer, I could have been at my window about when it was supposed to have happened.
