I need to get in the habit of updating this more often, really I do. Since I have a lot to cover, I am going to do as much as possible before my body shuts down or morning comes, whichever is first to happen. These past few days (since Wed.) have been really crazy.
The reporting to the Financial Committee went off without a hitch, and there was no ASAP meeting, giving me a little breathing room to take care of a few small things at work (like lunch). After that was Instructional Design, where I spent a good part of the period talking over FirstClass with JP about geek girls and stuff, Forgetting how deep that topic really is, that carried us all the way into the C.O.O.L. meeting that afternoon. Seems I am now the treasurer for the Orientation Leaders, which gave me a task I will talk more about later. After the meeting, I begged Heather to come with me to the ICC Officer's meeting, which she finally did. I am glad she did too, since we had a lot to cover. After that, (we got done early, so this is 7pm) I came home, and rested finally. And it is about time too.…
RP Day 1
March 24, 2002 @ 01:03 am
It was a good day for roleplaying, I must say. We killed a good three hours getting into the plot, and I forgot how long these sessions potentially can take. If we had about 15 or so minutes more, we could have reached the planned stopping point. Oh well. I may write some more story into it tonight, but chances are it is too late and I am too tired.
I spent the entire day over at sh0ck's house with Ethan, Makari, and Kryn. They make up a very nice and diverse group, which makes the gaming session interesting. I have a couple of very large things planned, which will require large amounts of planning and preparation, which is okay. Probably the hardest thing is implementing my battle modifications. I prefer a more real-time method, which means I am going to need to start making use of a white board, vis-a-vis and dry erase markers. I may just break out my hex map and a dry erase. That could work. Something quick, simple, and effective. Ethan and Makari have warhammer things, so picking a "character" should be painless too.…
At least It’s Not
March 22, 2002 @ 10:03 pm
Oh yes, this was the good days that we enjoy. I finished yesterday at about 4 am this morning, which was actually okay since I finished most of my ICC preparatory work. Microsoft Money is actually a good tool for this. After all, each budget item is essentially an "account" right? So I got that done, and one less major thing to do helped me sleep well. I awoke seven hours later well rested and ready for the day.
I then went with Makari and Gretchen to the DC for "food", and then grabbed my sourcebooks for Star Wars 3rd Edition. I am GM for a campaign, so this will be very fun. Time to actually organize things.…
shlong day?
March 21, 2002 @ 10:03 pm
Hmmm, this is going to be short, if only because there isn't much to say. I was on the phone late with Marce talking about random stuff, and totally lost track of time. Since it was the AM hours, everything got magically set back to Jakob-time, where everything is automatically 15-30 minutes late. After a meeting at SACD, I caught food at the Commons with Makari and we went and washed his car. I didn't think that many bugs could hit such a small car. So anyway, that was the afternoon. The evening was a dinner cooked by the Chef Chris Renter, and some PS2 action at his apartment.
That brings us to now.…
and what are you doing?
March 15, 2002 @ 01:03 am
Ahh, peace and quiet - the illusion that we live in. It's almost Friday, and by the time this little gem is done, I have no doubt that it will be, Friday that is, not that this will be a gem. :)
Today was one of those things we call "long," and if only words existed for an expression of "long" in triplicate. It started at 10 with Service Learning, and went spiraling from there. HCOM was unexciting, SPAN wasn't much better, and the only thing I have to show for work is everything in the Database set up and all my tracking up to date. And for the night? A long talk with Reneé about Student Voice things, a stop by Chat the Movies (was hoping to see JP and Heather, but no dice), and then came back to the room to enjoy some Super Smash Brothers Melee with Chris R. (he is now Pikachu's sworn nemesis).…

Hmmm, it is really late. Um, I mean early. In response to a note from before, the three days referred to how long until I got to Spring Break, something I have been looking far too forward to. The current game plan is to go to San Diego with Makari, and then come back here and potentially go to Sac for a bit. We shall see how that develops.
See the new colors? The new domain is official, and I recommend you start using the new domain name:…
tomorrow, tomorrow…
March 11, 2002 @ 11:03 pm
Welcome to tomorrow.
On your left, is an image on the caoine.org T-shirts. You know you want one. I sure as hell do. Because of when paychecks fall, I didn't have the cash at the time for a drew "shut up shut up shut up" shirt. But I'll be damned if I am going to pass this one up. There is just something about acquiring really fucking cool T-shirts. And I mean unique fucking cool T-shirts. So far, I have the ph33r the cute one's shirt from MT, my f&$#ing ray of sunshine shirt, the condescending one, the I like you (I'll kill you last) shirt, and like two others. This by far beats my typical selection of polo shirts. It's a lot more expressive, and a lot more relaxing.…
incoming domain
March 10, 2002 @ 12:03 am
The power is being shut off on campus tomorrow, so I am not sure when I will be able to update. I am also not sure when things will resolve, but I will be moving domains. We will no longer exist at mechanicalruins.net. Don't worry, the domain will be around a bit longer, but the time has come to move to a new domain. A .org. This also means a site redesign which is well underway and nearly completed. Once the DNS servers kick in, I will upload the new layout, alias the old site to point to the new one, and update my journal templates.
I skipped a GCAN due to homework load, and I still have a good 12-14 hours to go. ID, HCOM, Spanish Presentation, and this is only the begining.…
you only miss it when
March 05, 2002 @ 10:03 am
You never know how much you miss your student body card until it's gone. You can't eat. You can't check out books. You can't even get into your own dorm building.
So did I lose my keycard? No. Last night it was taken. Confiscated if you will, by people at the Otter Bay Express. I can't blame them, really. If it says to take my card, and they could get fired if they don't, then they need to do their job. So I passed on food for Thursday. Friday morning, still keycard-less, I went to the Campus Service Center. I explain my situation, and the first thing she says?…
