sitting in a class
August 29, 2002 @ 09:08 am
I think the only good thing that ever came out of my Internet Programming class to date is the fact that I can update this while sitting and pretending to be taking notes. He is going over the final project, and I am trying really hard not to laugh. For those who are affluent in Java, you will get a kick out of this:

Okay, so it's day one of school. Well, actually, it is post day one, and pre day two, but we are not going to be overly technical about the whole thing. The classes went well, although details are supplied below, and the night was full of food and fun. I ended up over at Charles for a bit, enjoying Para Para on his newly modified PS2. Happiness is best defined as dancing around because you can. The fact you are actually trying to accomplish something while doing it makes it all the more fun.
CST 311 was this morning, and while the professor seemed nice enough, the class seemed less than challenging. The class is an introduction to telecommunications, but it seems that some of us in the class are already somewhat familiar with the topics. The second half of the class may be important though, since it deals with stuff I have heard off, but haven't had much experience with. These first few weeks though are gonna be a sleeper.…
attack of the grody-ass kitchen
August 19, 2002 @ 08:08 pm
Our kitchen sucks. Not in the way that most kitchens do, usually lacking the appliances or have a broken cabinet sort of suck, but as in there are three other individuals who do not respect a clean kitchen and have no problem living in filth. I can't stand a mess in the place I cook. In the kitchen here, there are dirty dishes everywhere, crap on the counters, half open boxes, and this is all just the start of it!
To make it worse, they don't want to clean it.…
Item A in Box C…

Somehow, it shouldn't be surprising that I am not in Monterey. I decided to wait on the trip until this weekend, so I could go with my parents, who have the trailer and 90% of the furniture I would be needing anyway. It is kind of hard to set up a computer without something to set it on. That being said, I am still here in Roseville, typing away on my parents' computer, while my brother blasts rap music, shaking houses three blocks down. If it's not already obvious, part of me is eager to get back, while the other half of me wants to stay. The third half of me is kicking the shit out of the two former halves who can't seem to decide between themselves. Tsuu, I swear sometimes making basic decisions is a lot harder than it should be.
I have spent the morning and most of the afternoon packing, which has mostly consisted of putting stuff in boxes and then moving the boxes to another room so they are all in one place. I figure I will have to move the boxes at least twice more before I actually get to start taking stuff out of them. Add to that a need for leaving only furniture (and a clear path for loading) and you have what will likely be my life between now and Saturday.…
in light of recent rants?
August 09, 2002 @ 10:08 am
Wow, I was surprised to flick on the CPU and browse around my usual sites to find a lot of people talking about Anime Conventions. And I don't just mean locally, it seems nationwide. Many people I know on the east coast are saying the same thing about the cons; there is much less of a focus on anime. The things that are replacing it seem to be J-Crack and Video Crack. (~_^) Not that Japanese music and video games aren't cool. I could list my obsessions with the two and be here for a while, but that isn't the issue at hand. There is an increase in the amount of non-anime things at conventions, and this is on the whole, not just in cosplay. This year at AX there was an entire masquerade dedicated to J-Rock.
And costume is just where it begins. If you haven't seen the LEBT on anipike, a similar symptom is infecting fanfiction.…
welcome home?
August 03, 2002 @ 01:08 pm
Well, my brother is back from camp. And within an hour, he already managed to:
- Eat all the remaining pizza form last night with his friends.
- Drop a nice sized piece onto the floor.
- Forget to clean up resulting mess.
- Play my gaming systems and stuff without asking until already playing.
They went to go get food now. I guess the pizza wasn't enough for them. Add to that far too much talk about my living situation next year, and I can see how badly I am going to get screwed. All I want is a place to put my bed, since I can always work around that and the desk (part of bed underneath) to hold all my stuff. I can't even be sure I am getting that. On a side note, I have someone on IM arguing that I don't know the height of my own bed. This is AFTER I took a tape measure and went out and checked. Uhg.…
Souda, we’re alive! Somehow, after

Souda, we're alive!
Somehow, after little sleep, I am wide awake, have energy, and am ready to tackle the day. I spent yesterday morning surfing around randomly, since I was awoken about 8 or so to see my parents off on their week trip to British Columbia. After that, I spent the day working on stuff until
Steve and Chris came over. Steve had Project Gotham Racing, so much car action was had by all. Heather came over in the evening, we ordered pizza, and after Chris left, we watched some original Slayers so Steve could see the series. About 11:15 or so Steve headed out, and Heather and I finished Slayers TRY. It didn't feel like a very climactic ending to the Slayers saga, especially when compared to the other two. At the end though, when it shows Zel setting out on his own, and it shows the shot of the canteen... yeah, that was cool. ^_^ After that, Heather and I sat around and talked, and ended up coming up with another Slayers skit idea. We got it written down (though not actually written) and then called it a night (morning?).…
