The New Motorola v600

July 24, 2004 @ 10:07 pm

If I were to use the word sexy to describe my new phone, I would be lacking an equally accurate adjective to describe the iPod (40 GB) that I have had my eye on. Clocking in at an expected $250, Motorola's new phone brings together the two things one wishes for in the cellular phone world.

The first of these is the reliability and power of a Motorola Phone…

Playing Catch Up

July 17, 2004 @ 11:07 am

To say I fell behind this last week would be kind. To say I fell behind this last week and sacrificed sleep and am still behind is perhaps more accurate. I simply blame the fact I love my job(s) too much. One job pays a lot of money for building cool things. The other pays no money but I get to build even cooler things. I can't really argue with something like that. I probably need to check with the Principle Investigator though if I can screencap pieces of the Homeland Security Digital Library project for my portfollio. I'd hate to think I haven't done any web based projects all this while. (I didn't sign an NDA either, so we'll see how that goes.) As for the second "job" I don't think that one will find its way into my portfolio. It's just a hunch.

Eventually, I am going to add a section for Blog Categories and see about getting some Searchable Archives up for this site. The b2evolution Search isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm likely to see better results with that than simply trying to browse for "that one entry about..." which currently takes forever.…

Distracted by a damn shiny object

July 12, 2004 @ 02:07 pm

I went Sea Kayaking on Saturday, and I am still paying for it today in the office. Thank goodness slack pants are soft and comfortable, else I would really have a long day today. To say I got sunburned would perhaps be the understatement of the year. It hurts to even furrow my eyebrows currently. Outside of that though, the weekend was wonderful. I even managed to hook into some wireless on Sunday to catch up in my new duties.

As if I wasn't already doing enough, I'm now doing things for a small (well, not small anymore) web site that someone forced me to sign up for back in April. That's not to say I regret signing up, as I've had my eye on this group for a long time. I'm just lazy and enjoyed lurking. Long story short, I signed up, was sucked in, saw they would be at a convention, threw myself into my usual at-con chaos, and that was that. There is a lot more to it, but for brevity sake, I've added one more thing to my long list of things I do to spend time online. Speaking of projects...…

Anime Expo 2004 Photos and Convention Report

Anime Expo 2004 Pictures

Conventions have a bad habit of leaving people exhausted, and dare I say Anime Expo 2004 was no exception. I have always referred to AX as the "social con" of the year, simply because over the years there has been a steady decline in the quality of the programming on all levels. The guests were good this year, but their panels were over packed, the video rooms felt very sponsored and industrial, and the dealer's room felt like a trade show. This isn't a bad thing, instead simply a statement of fact. I heard some bad things about the backend of some of the larger events, and I do dearly hope that masquerade backstage wasn't as bad as it sounded and that an AMV wasn't completely skipped due to AX messing up. Overall, the convention was about an eight out of ten.…
