A Long Time Away from Haight

It had been almost two years since I was at Haight Street, the last time being with Kryn. While I navigated for him that time, I could only remember two things about the SF Streets. The first is that Market will take you anywhere. The second is that every street is one way and the wrong way. I have always found getting out of San Francisco much easier than getting in, and this was no exception to the matter. Once we got where we needed to be, we walked, we talked, we drive back through In and Out in Gilroy. After an abysmally bad breakfast at the Dining Commons, that hit the spot. For those interested I acquired 2 wrist cuffs, a belt, and a chain, viewable here.

By the time we got back, Tessa was overdue at a party she didn't know was happening, so I dropped her off there and came back. I then complained about capstone, did some programming, and worked on my ILP portfolio in a small form of childish spite. As a positive aspect to it, I did clean up my Xoops language files and create an authentication function that makes life a lot easier for updating / checking permissions. I also have started playing with jGraph in the hope that I might be able to implement it before the final project is due.

Lastly, it took me two weeks, but I have finished drilling through the Harper Hall Trilogy and The White Dragon, both books from Anne McCaffery's The Dragonriders of Pern series. Though now there is a slow realization that the bliss associated with an enjoyable and developed fantasy series will eventually come to a close. That being said, I am in the market again for a rich fantasy series of three or more books containing medieval structuring, holds / lords / etc, and copious amounts of dragons. The most crucial part of course, is dragons. I always have been intrigued by the portrayal of the beasts in writing, not only for Pern, but for Rawn's Dragon Prince series, and the Bazil Broketail sequence. Though I dare say I won't be starting on the book(s) until summer, this most recent surge of reading has sucked away very important time for dedicating to tasks such as graduating. However, I'd be the first to admit to having a much more relaxed nature and citing the cause as the availability of books.

Don’t worry, there are PLENTY of Pern books. One might say TOO many Pern books. I have most of them, and the ones I don’t have, my roomate has. I’ll be happy to lend you my load of ‘em when I can.  Some of the best characters are found in the short stories.  My favorite, and the one that got me into the series in the first place, is “The Littlest Dragonboy.”
