I'm a software engineer who has taken an interest in web-standards based design and Information Architecture. For me, the challenge in web design has always been from the core outward, focusing on the goal of building systems that are capable of generating code that is putty in the hands of a skilled designer. However, a robust system is very hard to describe and explain without an interface to compliment it. And so here I am, an engineer who understands the importance of design, learning every step of the way in a trial-and-error fashion. Clients and companies in the past include the Academic Skills Achievement Program of California State University, Monterey Bay, Refuse 925 Clothing, and the Homeland Security Digital Library Project. I currently hold a full time job with Gaia Interactive, the creative group behind the web site Gaia Online

About Felocity.org

Felocity.org is, for me, a digital sandbox where my designs, skills, and inspiration become one. A quick look at the Internet Wayback for this site shows it's history and evolution.

Like its design, Felocity's purpose has changed over time. What originally began as a personal weblog on the Internet soon became an online portfolio. In this latest revision, there is a harmonic balance between the two. Professional and personal exist together on this site, highlighting web design, usability, programming, system administration, and of course, pictures of cats. (Every weblog has them, you know.)

Discussion is one of the best parts of Internet journalism, and I encourage you to participate (either through email or leaving comments). Unfortunately, this system doesn't yet use Trackback technology, but there is hope to include it in the future.

Technical Details

View source is your long lost friend in regards to site construction, CSS and XHTML tricks, as well as seeing how it all went together. For content management, I make use of Textpattern and enjoy it's simple efficiency for posting entries and managing articles. I've used Movable Type Blogger Greymatter LiveJournal and b2evolution so I've run the gamut of setups, MySQL headaches, and missing code libraries. I also welcome any questions about any of these systems and how they work, since there is no one magic bullet for everyone's content needs.

For those who can't get enough trivia, this site actually started using NewsPro for all of it's blogging. The Internet sure has come a long way in content production.

Finally, this site makes use of Shortstat by Shaun Inman. It records non-identifiable information such as country of origin, browser (major and minor version), referring URL, and requested page. This information is used to determine what content on felocity.org is widely sought after, as well as ensuring that the page complies with the highest percentage majority of the browser market. The aggregated information is available for viewing from the Felocity.org Shortstat Page
