Our fridge has far too much turkey in it currently, which while I don't object to taking food back to Monterey, I wonder how we ended up with so much left over. I then calmly remind myself we had a nineteen pound turkey for about twelve people. I think really that sums up Thanksgiving without really delving into the deeper intricacies of my family, a small thing everyone is thankful to be spared from. For better or for worse, there is never anything exciting that transpires at family get-togethers. No drama, no chaos, the worst thing possibly being the minor inconvenience of having family around; so really there is nothing bad, it's just boring.
Ever since I beat Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance (still working towards 300 missions), I have been picking on two other games to bide my time with. The first of these is Mario Kart: Double Dash, and the second is Neopets. I would also mention One Piece Treasure Battle, but my opinions on that game will only matter to a select few. Double Dash is just more of the insane fun you loved in the original Mario Kart. In the single player mode, many of the elements are identical, and sadly so are many of the courses. While not spot-on identical, you have a modern Gamecube version of the beach (with water that rises and falls), Wario Stadium, and Rainbow Road just to name a few. Where this game does shine though is when you start getting multiple people playing. The more people you have (via linked gamecubes) the more fun Double Dash is. However, in the end, it is a bargain bin buy, unless you happen to be a rabid Mario Kart fan. There just isn't enough that is innovative and new to keep it interesting.
The second game is Neopets, something I put down back in Freshman year of college because there wasn't anything to the site. Apparently there is also some unspoken rule that if you ignore you account for too long the system does something stupid like shut it off and never let you use it again. So, a bit ago, I had to remake my account. So now I'm on there as mechanicalruins forced to an Internet life of underscorelessness (if that is even a word). Now that they have some good Flash programmers, there are a lot more games, and a lot more interactivity. And I can play card games without breaking open a deck of cards...that's always nice too.
And so now the driving begins. Three hours back to Monterey, just so I can get some more homework done. Thankfully though, whatever I don't finish I can do Monday morning.
