I was grounded today. No, not by typical parental grounding standards, but more in a "because of last night, I don't want to do anything" sort of way. I just chilled in front of my computer and did some work and programming, things I have wanted to do for a while now. I also got in a lot of work on FOG Adv, finishing most of what D had asked me to do. I should have the site improvements to him by tomorrow night. He's going to have a store, now how cool is that?
My other big programming achievement is a little scripting I did to work with my web journal. I am now fully powered by Greymatter, and proud of it. I used a lot of Noah's code in figuring out how to make this whole web journal work, and just went with his configuration scheme. I then did heavy modifications for speed, and ripped out all the stuff I didn't need, throwing in all the stuff I did. With everything in place, I spent today making it all work. And now it does. The GM engine is at the core of this odd blog-style invention.
So why did I dump GM into the core instead of my old forum based engine I was working with? Simple – the addons. I see no reason to reinvent the wheel. In fact, you can now save user information with ease thanks to a GM hack. Makes my life a little easier. The URL of the journal also changed if you noticed to "devnull". And now, everything is in place.
Including my camstill engine.
If you go to IMG, you will see I changed the layout slightly, and it is easy to integrate my camera into your page.
And speaking of cameras, I want you. Yes you, the people my site statistics say actually read this crazy thing. I want you to send me the link to your camera (if you have one). R-mail me (mechanicalruins.net) or use one of the dozens of other ways people know to get a hold of me. I suppose under extreme circumstances you could just post it via "talkback" but only as a last resort. I already have a few people in mind for the portal page, but it would be spiffy if I didn't forget anyone.
No, for those of you that don't know what a portal is, it is a collection of webcams. Not like those internet services, but a single .jpg file on your webpage you upload or update with some form of regularity. I know some of you who already do this, and for others, this may be a new concept. If you want to see an example of what it will look like, go here to see an interesting portal. Oh, and it links to your website, so you get free traffic. You can't beat that.
At this point, we have hit the 3 am mark, meaning eventually I will have to go fall asleep. Tomorrow brings at the very least ID homework, SL Journal, revising an HCOM paper, and working in my Spanish workbook. I put the last one off for two weeks, so I have no doubt it is going to be the most annoying of the four.
I never thought the Internet could be so quiet
