My legs hurt, sort of a slight tingling and burning sensation. Been standing on them all day; it seems like convention training I guess.
Cosplay? Yeah. Kuro - glove #2 done, going to need help putting them on when the time comes. Putting on gloves requires fingers. Kuro has katanas for said fingers. Unlike in One Piece, you can not just slip gloves on and off without your fingers. The spray paint likes to stick to itself as well, so if anyone knows a way to reduce spray paint stickyness, that would rock. As far as the costume goes, I need to locate a big black button shirt or a big jacket. I have the slacks, but need the brown shoes. I also need to find a way to do his fucked up shirt he wears. I was thinking I could starch some fabric (maybe plastic underside) and attach it to a standard collar on a dress shirt. I also need to do his shirt pattern, but I bought the buttons and felt today, and hopefully I can beg / plead H into drawing the design for me. For as simple as it is, I would mess it up pretty bad.
G & W - he is drawn, he is cut out, he has the first layer of reinforcement done. Tomorrow I plan to bond and glue the spines into place and put the white paint on the edges so I can use masking tape on it later and do the black. I also need to cut out my frying pan and sausages. ^_^
Costumes I am helping with - got the sword started. It looks pretty. The white paint isn't quite working the way I want it to, and I think it might be because it isn't quite right for cheap plastic. It tends to be runny and leave glops. I am slowly getting it to look right, and took some 120 grit sandpaper to it to clean some of it up. The blade itself looks really good, and the silver looks amazing once the clear coat is on it for a shine.
Tomorrow... - make finger katana template, cut katanas and fold, glue to spines, first coat of paint - spine and paint (at least 2 coats) on G & W - go wig shopping - pick up black sharpe pen, erasers, white tape - pick up shoelace for sword decor - get Kuro shirt design drawn and cut out
I'd like to - find a black shirt / jacket - find cheap tan shoes for altering
I think that really sums a lot of it up. I have far too much to do, but need to really focus in on my Fanime costume (since that is first). Thankfully, it also requires at this point the least amount of work of the two. I will have to plan my day tomorrow so I can do things while the paint dries in order to be really productive, since there really is nothing more boring than watching paint dry.
Spirits are running high as of late, probably because I get to drive down to AX and have fun soon. Sure Fanime is coming up, but that doesn't have me as excited as meeting the Kenshin's Pants crew, meeting the Kaizoku-Fansubs group, meeting the people who had a hand in Escaflowne (which has been the current anime marathon while we cosplay), and enjoy July 4th fireworks over Disneyland. For as panicked and as worried as I was, everything seems to have worked out. I guess it is all just sort of funny that way. I also have my con buddy, which makes me very happy. It's not that I don't love you Chris and Michelle, but you see, there are just certain ways to go about doing a convention, and the buddy system is really important. It's not a threesome thing, it's a buddy thing. Um here, Penny Arcade explains it rather well. Hopefully I won't get poked in the eye though. If I do, it will be from my own damn katanas.
I promised everyone pictures, but the digital camera is currently MIA. So instead, I am going to offer up some explanatory pictures of what I am doing. Reference pics if nothing else. So when I say "Kuro", you don't say "who?" or something silly like that.
