I just moved my Movable Type to PHP. I feel sleek and sexy, as well as free from 5 mb worth of database files. At over 700 entries, it was time to move away from the bulky filesystem method. On the first site-wide rebuild, I could see the speed. We are talking 30 seconds to rebuild all of the HTML (as opposed to 3 minutes with the old system). It's hot, it's sexxay, and it is the way code is meant to be. I owe a thousand thanks to Charles who is the admin guru who I have given my soul skills to.
Having the MySQL driven MT also means it will be much easier to develop stuff in PHP. I will be able to finish a few key projects, and most importantly, I have all the tools I need for my capstone. I say this on the fact that in the history of capstones, I have never once seen the university provide the tools needed. I could do it in Access / ASP, but I really would like this tool to be marketable. The other option would be to turn my own machine into a server, and that sounds about as fun as playing with Mr. Stabby.
Either tomorrow or Saturday, H and I get to ill it with the ever-so-awesome Shiru! I'm far too excited for my own good. But that is at least a day off. Today was a doctors appointment, some sleeping, and trying not to think about stuff like general surgery. Right, so anyway, I think I head Advance Wars 2 calling my name. I'm going to beat that last mission, damnit!
