This weekend was home to one of the better parties I have been to in my college life. Out of all four "parties" I think I ever attended as a student, this one currently takes the cake as the most enjoyable. It was a pleasant mix of costumes, anime nuts, gamers, and booze. The pirates, a Weird Al Yankovic costume, a chained out kitten bartender, and Mitch/Carin costumed as Carin/Mitch simply added to the atmosphere. It was H's party in honor of that event-type-thing that is supposed to take place October 31. That's right, it was a genuine Halloween party - costume required. Before the party though, I needed a costume. Many thanks to Shyene and Chris for going with me to Salinas (home of the only place that sells black cat ears) and for walking Northridge Mall, seeing the new place, and extra special thanks to Sheyne for helping me chain myself up. Cat ears, tail, chains from D-rings in bondage pants, a soft velvet collar with a nice sized bell on it, a chain from the collar through the shirt to the pants, a pair of cool boots, and a desire to mix drinks made for a great night for me. I didn't really get to interact with H much though surprisingly, she was always such a busy hostess, and I had booze to disseminate to the masses. When I got to Santa Cruz though, tragedy struck.
We didn't have nearly enough alcohol.
A quick trip to Long's fixed that, and the group managed to do significant damage to most of the stuff we had. There were shots, a few creations I made, and the usual rounds of mixed drinks. I might as well write down those drinks so I can come back to them later.
Twister (shot) 2/3 oz Skyy Vodka 1/3 oz Midori Melon Squeeze 1 thin slice of lime into shot, leaving pulp (This becomes VERY bitter and sour)
Twister Mixer 1 oz Midori Melon 2 oz Bacardi Orange Rum fill with 7-up Serve in Highball Glass
Drunken Sanji 1 oz Absolut Citron Orange fill with Sunkist Serve in Highball Glass
Hot Cocoa (shot) 3/4 oz Kaluha 1/4 oz Hershey's Syrup (or other chocolate powder) Add 1 marsh mellow and shoot
I am sure there were a few more, but for the life of me, I can't remember them. Anyway, I found my way home about 3 in the morning, the time being 3 courtesy of Daylight Savings Time ending. (So in all honesty, it was really about 4). I woke up horribly disoriented, somehow had my shirt off, but still managed to have everything still chained in place. Such a mystery, and one I will never know the answer to. Though I must admit, it seems to be a sign of a good party when nobody complains. I'm glad I left when I did though, since I was dead tired and knew I really couldn't handle sleeping on a hardwood floor for the night. I was also by that point beyond tired, meaning I had fallen really quiet and stopped being terribly social (it took too much energy). Driving home, I sung along with Sheyne's CD, despite not knowing any of the words. I was simply screaming out random stuff in tune to the music. It sounded close enough.
The rut of academics has returned though, and Monday stuck hard and fierce. I'm at work now, after having tossed down a nice sum of cash for a new battery. See, my old battery in my car was still the OEM part, meaning it was almost 7 years old. It was due to die, but of course since there was no paperwork on it, I had no idea until it actually died. A bit of cash later, and with the help of Kryn, the new battery was in place and the car running. I was only about 15 minutes late to work as a result.
