So This is How it Goes

Wow, I am finally back at a computer. Unlike normal computer withdrawal, this wasn't half bad. Then again, I think when back in SC I got a "fix" by being able to check my email. So now, without further delay (cue music), the weekend!

I should probably start with Friday, since I don't think I truly relayed the craziness that was associated with Sheyne, Dave, Nikki, and myself running around crazy from OSH, to Kinko's, to Office Depot, to Target, to food, to bed, and to sleep. I ended up getting back around 8:00 or so, and I was very impressed we managed to cram all our prep work into 3 hours. We were ready for tomorrow.

I spent the early morning hours driving up to SC, as I was supposed to meet H and C at Crown Circle at 9:00. This, of course, meant that I would have to be up at 7:30 or so in order to leave the house in a state I could drive at 8. I managed, with a little help from a Mountain Dew, and as the morning kept going, I woke up more and more. Things sort of went haywire, and I ended up picking up Matt second, and H at the Inn. Rumor has it, that Halo was the cause, which makes it all cool. ^^ We got back on campus around 10 or so, running a bit behind since we had to pick up my TV from the apartment. And so began Kelp Kraze.

The On Campus Admissions Day / Kelp Kraze is one of the largest events of the year, both for the University and student organizations. The turnout for Kelp Kraze has always been amazing. It is usually slow at first, but as more people get out of workshops and come back from tours, it picks up pace very quickly. By 1, our booth was pumping! We had DDR, we had Para Para, we had shade, water, a beanbag toss for the kids, and a raffle with over $100 in prizes, and all of it donated. Our grand prize was the Preacher box set! We made in total over $150 from the raffle (and donations), plus we won a contest for the best booth at Kelp Kraze, netting us another $200. We finished well in the black (as opposed to the red), and most importantly, everyone was having fun! That alone made the month worth of planning, prep, and work worth it. The people working it were a great help, and people we had enough staff that people could go and enjoy the day without having to work all day. H and I wandered around a few times, and I got to check in with a bunch of the clubs. After Kelp Kraze, Matt and Shey went to her house to put some stuff away, and C, H, and I went to my place to put away cinder blocks before we all went to New Tokyo. Jake came too for dinner, which was cool.

After some stuff, we went to Target, and I got a Wavebird. I needed a 4th controller, especially if we were going to be playing Super Smash Brothers Melee. Since I had to get one anyway, why not get the wireless one for like 7 dollars more? Done and done. Jake and a few others went to get drinks for the night, and SSBM and alcohol was had by all. Well, except C, 'cos she doesn't drink. Plenty of Mtn. Dew was on hand, and she made a pretty good dent in my "fridge 'o dew". ^^ We got to watch some of Hellsing on Jake's computer, and I really want to get the rest of the episodes, if only so they are on hand for SAMO. I should ask Jake so I can make copies of it, to replace with DVDs as it comes out (and I can afford it). We only got to get through a few before it was time to switch CDs. Jake's laptop was acting up, so we called it a night.

When morning came around, we all ignored the 9 am wake up, and settled for "awww crap it's sunny, time to move". We got out of the bay about 11:40 or so, and grabbed Jack in the Box drive through on the way out. We got everyone dropped off and came into the SAMO meeting around 1 or so. The meeting made me feel a bit better about coming, because I knew they needed some help. I came armed with flyers, CAC worksheets from Ani-Magic, and a bunch of other things too. I got a chance to talk to Derrick for about 2 hours or so, and by the time the dust settled, not only did they have a viewing schedule finalized, but flyers, mailings, and it seemed as if they wanted to make a change. I set them in the direction of their Student Activities office, and gave them a copy of our club's constitution so they had something to build off of. It was good to see the club want to get better and want to do things. I suddenly understood why Rob cared so deeply about CAC. Clubs helping clubs succeed. It's cool.

After SAMO, the trio of us went to Capitola Mall, and I was very disturbingly reminded of the old Sunrise Mall, before the remodel. It even had a coin fountain! We wandered around, hit Suncoast for DVDs, Hot Topic to look at wings for C's Hamelin costume (still seeking ideas from other cosplayers on ways to make them), and I had to exercise restraint going into the video game stores. Metroid Prime pre-orders, Zelda pre-orders... Hitman 2... so... many games. >_

I awoke in the morning because of sunlight, and took care of a few emails, and flew out the door to class. The class wasn't bad, but it wasn't stellar. I did discover that on Wed. I don't have to be there until 11 in the morning. Can you say sleep in? I know I can! After that, Jake and I grabbed some lunch, and went back to the apartment. I talked online with some people and worked on my large amounts of CST homework due at the midnight deadline tonight. I think I still have an outline and a reflection (250 words, whoopee) I have to do. That and I really should finish my Java program. I will probably spend the night working on homework and stuff, and probably also get a jump on my Computer Architecture and Environment joke class. Yee doesn't seem to understand that with a class of 40 people, when there are 5 left by the end of the lecture, something is wrong. He just continues to talk, not teach, and then test us on stuff that is in no way related to the lectures. I left at the break to go get food, because I could choose between going over the online quiz (10 questions over the next hour), or eating dinner. Really, this shouldn't be much of a dilemma, so I got food. I then came to ASAP and have been working since. My 7:00 is a no show, and I am able to finish this entry which I started early this morning. Only 1/2 an hour left, homework, sleep, and next weekend becomes one step closer.
