h2. Friday 8:17 am

My flight left this morning at 7:45 am for Austin, TX from San Jose, CA. The fact that we are 30 minutes into the flight and I am using my laptop means one very important thing: I'm not on the previously mentioned plane. Instead, I'm sitting at A10 on standby, waiting for the 11:40 flight. Boarding is at 11:10, so now I have three hours to pass. What better way to pass it than with my laptop, though I will certainly need to find an outlet soon, this way I'm fully charged for the flight. At least I can do homework.

28E! 28E! 28-fricken'E! My prayers for standby were heard, and after an agonizing three hours, I am on a plane for austin. Of course, I wish I had been on the right flight, but I'll take any flight. My hat off to the boarding crew for American Airlines 1172. You saved my first SXSW- I was dangerously close to trying to find another flight, risking lost luggage, and otherwise rolling about in agony. However, you came through for me. I am very thankful I went the checked baggage route though, since there was 0 room in overhead compartments by the time I got on board. But who am I to care, I am on the plane! Hopefully this won't monkey with my plans to meet up with people tonight.

While suffering the standby agony, I met two people Charile and Kevin, who have a film on Sunday at 1pm. I wish I had gone Gold, I could be checking it out. I might be able to yet, as I've given a lot of thought about adding the film package to my list. There seems to be a lot of cool stuff.

11:34 pm (now austin time)

I've been at bars since 6:30. Not drinking, mind you, just eating (first food of the day), bitching about the Holly Hack fix, talking PHP with a few people, and otherwise just sitting in on any conversation that caught my ear. I know now the real reason why everyone has business cards- it's one way to track who you've met.
