It's a clever name for the new house, handed to me by Sarah in one of our many conversations. See, at first it was a house, and then it was a crib. We couldn't call it a "cirznibble" because it wasn't worthy of the "nibble", and had no place for Z's. It also had electronics, and so it went bizneep as well; shortened to "beep" for the same reasons. And so now officially the new house is the criznibble that goes bizneep. And yes, if you were wondering, it is also very "bling bling". It's been a long four days, moving everything from one location to another, and the process isn't one I look forward to doing again any time soon. It's all sort of a blur now, but here is the short Reader's Digest version of the events that transpired.
Thursday: Moved a bunch of boxes with the help of Jennifer, discovered my wall jack wasn't terminated, and that I would need to do that myself. I was a bit torqued, especially on the heels of the apartment inspection which went less than well. I spent the evening bitching to nobody in particular while helping Jake and Charles yank down the wall. By the time it got too late for me to stand, I had hardly moved anything, didn't assemble anything, and accomplished almost nothing. I think I fell asleep about four in the morning.
Friday: Woke up at 8 am because I couldn't sleep, and by 9 had moved Jake's bed into my room so that we could be reinspected. I continued to pack a little bit, and then after work packed and moved another box of stuff. I went with Kryn to Radio Shack, and he helped me get everything I needed to terminate my wall jack. Eric came up later and helped me with the coax as well, which was very nice of him. I built all the bookcases and assembled them as well. Important rule of moving: just because it says "toolless" doesn't mean anything; you will want tools, especially a rubber mallet. I had to pound on some boards to make everything fit right, but it eventually went together and all was well. I also got my entertainment center moved, which involved hauling 11 cinder blocks down stairs, into my car, and then up stairs to my room at the new place. After all this, I was to go bowling with Jenn, Sarah, Ulie, and a few others. Arms already tired, I bowled really poor the first game, but the second I was doing much better, probably because I couldn't feel my arm anymore. I had a feeling of dread the entire evening too, as I realized how much homework I couldn't do (computer still apart), how much stuff I still had to move, and I hadn't even set up my computer desk or anything! Being someone who worries far too much, when you take all the house stuff, add to it the school stuff, add to that the capstone stuff, add to that the assignment due ASAP to Thomas, and add to that a deadline of less than 1 week, ice it all with social drama crap (the world is better not knowing), serve it cold and garnish with having not eaten much or really slept at all for the past week, and you get a lovely dish called stress breakdown. The last time I remember doing this was Freshman year, around mid December, when I ignored it and ended up making myself deathly sick for a 2 good weeks right around the holidays. I wasn't terribly crazy about doing that again, so I reached out for the one person who I knew would at the very least whallop me upside the head and make sure I didn't crash hard. She also drove an hour just to yell at me and hold me while I bawled like a little kid. I promised to only spend Saturday moving the essentials and not doing anything stressful and to sleep a lot and rest. By this time, it is technically 7 am Saturday morning when I fell asleep.
Saturday: As if some cosmic force was out to spite me, Dave from Anime Club called at a nice cheery 9 am, spoiling any chance I had of getting some sleep. Apparently I was needed at Kelp Kraze (which I had completely forgotten about). So, I loaded up the car with the tarp and blocks, made my way out to campus, set up everything, and then decided since I was up to make with the moving. Since I was going towards the house anyway, I threw some stuff in my car (why waste a trip?) and unloaded it all when I got there. By then it was late afternoon and I was already feeling some serious exhaustion. Matt came out with his truck, and we dismantled my bed and moved everything over. I managed to get my bookcases bolted and shelving installed. I had also cleared enough space to lay my mattress down, so I considered the day a success on the whole. By then, it was 10 at night, and I was due at Jenn's by 10:30 for exploring some abandoned buildings. We went to the restaurant, wandered around Imjin, and came back to campus. By this time, I was beat, so I opted for going home although they really wanted to keep going. I got back to the house, and I was sleep before I even fell onto my mattress. I was out like a light until the morning.
Sunday: I woke up about 10 or so thanks to some sunlight, but that wasn't too bad. I put in a good two hours making my desk go together, and then put my entertainment center together as well. Doing this game me tons of space to start unpacking, and so I spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking and building. I built a doweling mount for my closet, fastened a shelf on top of it, built my bed stilts and built my bed (made one of the legs a bit crooked, oops), got everything positioned, and went back to the apartment one last time. While there, I got my dishes, my silverware, knives, cooking utensils, pots, pans, slow cooker, by anime cells and pretty fanart that was drawn for me, my dirty clothes, threw it all in the car, and said bye to Jake and Charles. And that was that. The night was spent unpacking various things, and plugging in my toys. As always, the first thing set up was my computer, the second my entertainment center. After all, that's the important stuff, right? Slowly continued to unpack throughout the night until about 1:30 when I decided to call it a night.
Sure I still have a lot more to do, but it doesn't seem quite as bad as it did before. I knew I got kind of pissy with Eric at one point, which was kind of bad; I don't really want to get upset with anyone at this place, and three of us kind of had to deal with that sort of thing at our old places. I still have some boxes of non-essentials I need to do, as well as a few more things to buy, but that will have to wait until my next paycheck. This weekend I think H is doing a party thing, so I should probably find out about that as well. The worst part about being disconnected is being so disconnected. I rely on this machine for far too much communication.
