Travels with Rudy

As I made my way home for break, Thurs. afternoon (yesterday) I wrote down on my cell phone everything I could about the trip. What follows is an unmodified copy of my trip. Especially towards the start, it gives you a lot to think about...you see, my college is near a low income area, and actually the Greyhound station is near the heart of it.

==========

At Monterey station. Sitting next to smelly guy to my left, cute girl on the right. I would say the guy to my left hasn't bathed in two weeks maybe more. So begins my trip home, bus comes in fourty minutes.

Saw first prostitute. She was sitting to my right smoking a cig. On a plus side she said she would only charge half because I was a nice guy. She left a few minutes after I said that I was not really interested. She simply smiled and said that it was okay, she could not see a nice guy doing this kind of stuff. She was also thankful someone would actually talk to her and not just be looking for a fuck. All that was not my only reason for wasting four message slots. She had a sexy outfit. Thigh high boots, a kick ass skirt that showed just enough leg and VERY cool hair... Reminded me of an anime style. BUT that is also not why I put this in. She was my age, about 3 months older. I asked her why she did it. She asked me what else is there to do? ......I gave her my ten dollars. I also gave her my room number and told her if she ever needed a place to stay to stop by. It just felt right. This makes like the fifth Sara I know. All this, and my bus is not even here yet.

Fell asleep on the bus. In Watsonville, next stop Oakland. (Note: I did not know we were also stopping in Santa Cruz, Los Gatos, San Jose, Hayward, and like 2 other cities).

The bus filled rather nicely once we got out of Santa Cruz. A lot of college studets heading home. I have never been on highway one this far south. It is very pretty with all the trees and stuff.

Hayward now and from San Jose to here it has been really lonely. Not many people going to Oakland it seems. A girl got on the bus and of everywhere to sit, sat next to me. There must be a no talking on the bus rule because we are both off in our own world doing out own thing. I think this is how the flight to IL is going to be. My transfer is the next stop. Yes, I am a little nervous... This is almost like training for my flight at Easter.

Made the Oakland transfer just fine. Was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. That girl from before, sitting next to me again. I struck up a conversation. Right now while I type, she is snuggled into my side fast asleep. Her name is Kiedra... Pronounced Key dra. She has been sitting next to me since Hayward. She is from the Sacramento area too. She is going to SFU. She is a really nice person, and we swapped digits. Not that we will keep in touch but it is the principal of it all. She reminds me of Sarai in a lot of ways. It brings back memories of coming home from Band Shows with Sarai doing the cuddling because it always seemed freezing at two am. The only major difference between Kiedra and her is Kiedra is far more daring. She rested her head in my lap and looked up at me and I mentioned she may not want to do that. She smiled, put her face down, and snuggled into my lap. She turned sideways and said "If I am going to be uncomortable so are you." We both laughed so hard everyone on the bus stared at us, which made us laugh even more. She is a very cool person, and it is nice to have someone to crack jokes with. Here I thought you would just suffer in silence for the whole trip. While Kiedra sleeps, I give her a little attention, like brush her hair softly or put my arm around her and hug. On second thought, maybe we will call after all. We like being around each other. I could only see me with her as a friend though, but that's all cool.

I have arrived! In the car ride home with my Dad and I just called Tammy to let her know I got home okay and such. I also left a message with Jen. I feel so dead on my feet. I would so do this trip again though. Both the begining and end made the trip worthwhile. I made two really good friends who seem nice enough. Time will tell about that part. Make me want to bus back to the CSU though.
