You never know how much you miss your student body card until it's gone. You can't eat. You can't check out books. You can't even get into your own dorm building.
So did I lose my keycard? No. Last night it was taken. Confiscated if you will, by people at the Otter Bay Express. I can't blame them, really. If it says to take my card, and they could get fired if they don't, then they need to do their job. So I passed on food for Thursday. Friday morning, still keycard-less, I went to the Campus Service Center. I explain my situation, and the first thing she says?
"All right, I just need to see your student ID card so I can get your SSN out of it."
I just about cried on the spot from the stupidity. 30 minutes later, my card was re enabled. Apparently, it was reported lost, which was news to me. So the card still sits back at the Otter Bay Express (likely in the safe), which means it didn't do me any good. Since the express didn't open until 11, and the manager wasn't supposed to be in until 11:15, I went to SACD and did some ICC related work and talked with Heather. At 11:15, I went to go get my card, and guess who wasn't there. So I decided to come back to my room, couldn't, and sat in the cold for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come by and unlock my floor. I came to my room and started typing. Hopefully by lunch time I will have my card so that I can eat.
I'm not holding my breath.
